Tigers Team up with YCR for Let's Kick Cancer Appeal!
In late July, The Tigers announced the launch of a charity partnership with YCR for the start of the charity's 'Let's Kick Cancer" appeal.
The launch took place at the KC Stadium, the home of Hull City AFC, as the team prepared to fly out to take part in the Asia Trophy in Beijing. Manager Phil Brown and players including Geovanni, Jimmy Bullard, Boaz Myhill, Anthony Gardner and club mascot Roary the Tiger, all modelled Let's Kick Cancer t-shirts.
Clair Chadwick at Yorkshire Cancer Research, said: "Our new partnership with Hull City AFC is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the vital research Yorkshire Cancer Research supports. The Tigers will be holding a number of 'Let's Kick Cancer' events for supporters and their families and the highlight will be a fundraising opportunity at their biggest match of the season against Manchester United on Boxing Day."
Yorkshire Cancer Research has also launched a text to donate campaign with The Tigers - "Text HOPE" to 82727 in a bid to raise £50,000 during the coming season. During games at the KC Stadium fans will see an advert appear on the big screen asking them to "Text HOPE" to 82727.
Clair from Yorkshire Cancer Research said: "With this text campaign we are appealing directly to Hull City AFC fans as well as the away supporters, to encourage thousands of people to make a small donation all at the same time. During the course of the season more than half a million people will see the screen and if just a small proportion of them use their mobile to "Text HOPE" to 82727 then we will be well on our way to meeting our target of £50,000; which will be used to fund research here in Hull and throughout Yorkshire."
Fans will be charged £3.00 plus one message at their standard network rate. Yorkshire Cancer Research will receive approximately £1.90 from each message sent. This may increase if mobile phone operators choose to pass on VAT to Yorkshire Cancer Research and fans can increase the value of their donation further if they click through to Gift Aid the donation.
