With the Tigers preparing for their assault on the Premier League, manager Phil Brown increased his goalkeeping options with the capture of Tony following his release from Fulham.
The much travelled and experienced goalie turned professional with Liverpool in 1994, but never made a first team appearance for the Reds.
During his time at Anfield though, he had loan spells at Swindon Town, Celtic and Aberdeen.
He eventually left his hometown club in the 1999 close season with a move to Millwall.
Tony progressed to become an ever present for over two seasons at The New Den.
His unbroken run ended in January 2004 with an injury which ultimately cost him a place in the FA Cup Final against Manchester United later that year.
Fondly known as Denzil by the Lions fans (after the Liverpudlian character in 'Only Fools and Horses'), he made a total of 225 appearances for the South London club before joining Cardiff City in July 2004.
Tony made a further 30 appearances during his season at Ninian Park before jumping at the chance of a return to the Premier League with Fulham.
Initially signed on loan in August 2005 following the sale of Edwin Van Der Saar and injuries to Mark Crossley and Jaroslav Drobny, he completed the permanent move to Craven Cottage in January 2006.
The following month saw his international debut as a second-half sub for Shaka Hislop in Trinidad & Tobago's friendly with Iceland at Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road.
Tony is eligible to represent the Soca Warriors as his father Clyde was born in Trinidad before migrating to England in the 1960s.
The Iceland outing remains his only international appearance to date.
Subsequently succeeded by Antti Niemi at Fulham, Tony spent much of the 2006-07 campaign in loan spells at Leeds United and Norwich City.
Although back between the Cottagers sticks for the opening games of 2007-08, he went back out on loan on the January Transfer Deadline Day with a return to Yorkshire at Barnsley.
With the completion of his Fulham contract, the 34 year-old joined the Tigers with a two-year contract on the same day as George Boateng and Peter Halmosi.
On his arrival at the KC Stadium, the 6ft 4ins keeper said: "It's a move that I was interested in right from the start and it's great to be joining a club who are on the up.
"With the club having never been in the Premier League before there'll be a buzz around the place all season which will be fantastic."
