A Republic of Ireland youth international, Jamie was voted the club's Young Player of the Year and Supporters' Club Player of the Year in 2007/08.
The tricky winger was a member of Billy Russell's League and Cup winning youth team that season. Playing alongside the likes of Liam Cooper, Tom Cairney and Mark Cullen, Jamie was integral to the Tigers' success, scoring in the Youth Alliance Cup Final as City overcame Colchester 3-0 at Layer Road.
Jamie's first taste of competitive football came during a busy 2009/10 campaign, as he enjoyed loan spells at three League clubs. In what was a crucial 12 months in the Irishman's development, he firstly joined Darlington in September 2009.
Making his competitive debut in a 2-0 defeat to eventual promotion-winners Bournemouth, Jamie went on to star seven times for the Quakers. He scored a first goal in League football in what turned out to be the final game of his loan spell, as his first-half free-kick set Darlington on their way to a 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury.
Obviously impressing Shrewsbury on the day, Jamie found himself on the move to the New Meadow only three days after leaving Darlington. Making his debut in a 3-1 victory against Accrington Stanley, the Irishman enjoyed a successful two months with the Shrews, scoring important goals against Notts County and Rotherham.
Recalled to the Tigers in January 2010, Jamie's final loan switch saw him cross the Humber to join League Two strugglers Grimsby the following month. Although unable to stop the Mariners eventual slide out of the Football League, the winger became a fans' favourite, notching five goals in 15 appearances for Neil Woods' side.
Promoted to first-team duties during the 2010/11 Championship season, Jamie made his City debut as a second half substitute in the opening day victory over Swansea. After starting in successive matches against Portsmouth and Barnsley, the youngster will be hoping to secure a regular starting spot in Nigel Pearson's side.
Clearly part of the manager's plans in both the short and long term future, Jamie signed a new deal in January 2011 that will tie him to the KC Stadium until 2013.
