Amr Zaki was the club's sole signing during the January transfer window. The powerful forward joined on loan from Zamalek FC in a deal that runs until the end of the current league campaign.

Born in El Mansoura, Zaki began his professional career in 2001, signing for his local Egyptian Premier League side. After breaking into the first team at the age of 17, his performances over two seasons with Mansoura earned him a move to fellow League side ENPPI.

During his time with ENPPI he became the top goal scorer in the Egyptian Premier League for the 2004-5 campaign. His goals helped the club to win the 2005 Egyptian Cup, as well as finishing 2nd in the table.

His impressive performances for ENPPI soon caught the attention of the Egyptian national side. He played a crucial role in helping them win the African Cup of Nations in 2006, scoring the winning goal in the semi-final after coming off the bench.

After impressing in the competition he secured a move to Europe, joining Russian side Locomotive Moscow in 2006. The move, however, did not go to plan, as he failed to make a single first team appearance for the club.

In a bid to kick-start his career, he moved back to the Egyptian Premier League, joining Zamalek FC after only three months in Moscow. The striker was again a huge success at both national and international level following his return to native shores. He netted 30 goals in all competitions in two seasons with Zamalek, including scoring in the final of the Egyptian Cup of 2008. This was not his only achievement, as he again helped the Egyptian national side to victory in the African Cup of Nations.

After Egypt's success, Zaki secured another move to Europe, as the then Wigan Manager Steve Bruce secured his services on a one year loan deal. He took little time to adapt to the English top-flight, scoring 10 goals during his time with The Lactics, including a brace at the KC Stadium in August 2008.

Returning to Zamalek after his spell with Wigan, Zaki unfortunately missed out on this January's African Cup of Nations due to injury. The powerful forward is determined to further prove himself during his time with The Tigers.
