Hull-born Liam Cooper was selected for the Scotland Under-17 squad in March 2008, and has since progressed to Under-19 level.

The talented centre-back shared the Hull City Supporters' Club Young Player of the Year award with Jamie Devitt in 2007-08. Alongside the Irishman, Liam was part of the youth-team side that stormed to a League and Cup double that season.

After featuring in most of the Tigers' pre-season friendlies in the build-up to our first-ever Premier League campaign, Liam made his first team debut in the Carling Cup defeat at Swansea. Still short of his 17th birthday at the time, the defender showed a maturity beyond his years to underline his already growing reputation.

Liam signed his first professional contract with the Tigers ahead of the home game against Wigan in August 2008, when he was also an unused substitute.

Although forced to wait for his first taste of League action, Liam was also on the bench for the crucial game against Bolton in May 2009.

After starting in the Tigers' Cup matches against Southend and Everton, Liam made his Premier League debut against Liverpool at Anfield in September 2009.

Although blighted by injuries throughout the season, Liam also enjoyed an appearance against Arsenal - coming on in the 56th minute as the Tigers fell to a 2-1 defeat at the KC Stadium.

Liam signed a new three-year contract in March 2010.

The young defender made three first team appearances in August 2010, though since then has found chances limited. In a bid to gain more playing time, Liam joined Carlisle United on an initial one-month loan in January 2011.

Liam went on to join Huddersfield Town on loan for the first half of 2011/12 before making an impressive return with the Tigers in an FA Cup victory against Ipswich in January.
