Kamel is a striker who was born in France but who plays his international football for Algeria.

Having progressed through the youth system of French side GS St Anton, Ghilas signed for third division side AS Cannes. He found the net regularly for his new club and spent three years with them before joining Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes.

Ghilas helped Vitoria to promotion in his first season with the club, netting 12 times in 29 appearances and also made his international debut for Algeria against Cape Verde. He impressed at club level again the following year as Vitoria finished third in the Portuguese top flight, earning a shot at Champions League qualification.

However, Ghilas wasn't to be part of those efforts as he ended speculation about his future by joining Spanish side Celta Vigo in July 2008.

He ended the 2008/09 season as Celta's top scorer with 13 goals from 33 games and after being strongly tipped for a move to England, the 25-year-old completed a switch to Hull City just two days before the start of the 09/10 season and bagged his first goal on his first start against Bolton Wanderers.
