Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Seyi Olofinjana is the second Nigerian to play for Hull City, following in the footsteps of Jay-Jay Okocha.

His full name is Oluwaseyi George Olofinjana, and he began his career with FC Crown Ogbomoso, before moving on to play for Nigerian Premier League side Kwara United. It was during this time that he made his international debut for Nigeria in a 3-2 win against Malawi in June 2000.

After four years with Kwara, Seyi moved into European football after signing for Norwegian club Brann. He spent just one season in Norway, scoring 11 times in 37 games before helping his country to third place in the African Cup of Nations at the end of the 2003/04 campaign.

He then moved to England to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, turning down the opportunity to play in Holland and France.

After a difficult start to life at Molineux, which included inconsistent performances and injuries, Seyi found his feet during the 2006/07 season to finish as top scorer as Wolves made the play-offs.

When Wolves missed out on the play-offs the following year, Seyi handed in a transfer request and was subsequently sold to Stoke City for £3million. Goals against Everton and Arsenal saw him become a regular in the side up until Christmas, but the New Year saw a different story as he struggled to hold down a place.

His desire to play regular first team football saw Seyi look elsewhere at the end of the season, and after turning down a move to Monaco, he arrived at the KC Stadium for £3million.

A regular in the City side in the months leading up to Christmas, Seyi's brightest moment in a City shirt came in November 2009, as he found the back of the net with a superb individual effort against former employers Stoke.

After spending January 2010 with Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations, Seyi struggled to re-establish himself in the Tigers starting line-up, with first-team appearances few and far between.

In August 2010, Seyi joined fellow npower Championship side Cardiff City on a season-long loan and helped the Welsh side reach the play-offs, only to lose in the semi-finals.

Knee surgery in the summer meant that the first half of Seyi's 2011/12 season was spent in the treatment room, but a return to first team action came his way in City's FA Cup win against Ipswich in January 2012.
