Hungarian international Peter became the Tigers' new record signing in July 2008 when he was recruited for an undisclosed fee which exceeded the existing £1million tag held by Caleb Folan.

Capped 18 times by his country at the time of his arrival at the KC Stadium, the talented left-winger had especially gained the admiration of City boss Phil Brown on the back of four fine performances for Argyle against the Tigers during his 16 months at Home Park.

After earlier spells at Haladas Szombathely (his home town team) and Grazer AK in Austria, Peter joined Debrecen in 2003.

During his time at the Stadion Olah Gabor Ut, the team from Hungary's second city dominated the league and were the champions of 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07.

It meant Peter gained valuable Champions League experience, notably against Manchester United in August 2005.

He had been linked with a move to Everton in the summer of 2005, and also reportedly attracted the attention of Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and West Ham United before being handed a trial by Celtic boss Gordon Strachan in January 2006.

It was during the January 2007 Transfer Window that he made his loan move to Plymouth with a view to a permanent deal.

Peter teamed up with fellow Hungarians Krisztian Timar and Akos Buzsaky at Home Park.

Having duly impressed his Devon audience, a new Pilgrims club record fee of £400,000 was agreed at the end of the 2006-07 campaign.

He went on to become one of Argyle's most popular players over recent years.

Peter made his full international debut in 2002 and played against England in Hungary's 1-3 defeat at Old Trafford in May 2006.

In agreeing a four-year deal, he joined the Tigers ranks on the same day as George Boateng and Tony Warner.

In revealing that he didn't feel the burden of carrying a record fee, Peter admitted his move to the Premier League-bound Tigers meant a dream had come true: "Everything around the Premier League makes it special.

"The supporters, the stadium, the football; everything about it is exciting.

"I have always dreamed of coming to the Premier League and now I have that opportunity to prove myself."

Peter held the title of our record signing for only a number of weeks.

Anthony Gardner's permanent move from Tottenham Hotspur on 14 August raised the bar to £2.5million.

Four days after featuring in our first-ever top-flight game (against Fulham in August 2008), Peter became the Tigers' first Hungarian full international.

Has struggled to hold down a regular place in Brown's starting eleven, but he was the hero when scoring the winning goal in City's FA Cup Fifth Round replay victory against Sheffield United.
