Robert Koren is trying to make the most of his first full week of training as a Hull City player as he bids for a place in the starting line-up against Watford on Saturday.
The Slovenian midfielder, who captained and scored for his country at this summer's World Cup, officially joined City last Friday and was one of the few bright spots on an otherwise dark afternoon against Millwall last weekend.
His debut from the bench offered glimpses of the quality Koren will bring to the side and he is now hoping to be handed a start when Watford arrive at the KC Stadium on Saturday.
"I am looking forward to the game," Koren told www.hullcityafc.net
"I am trying my best in training and we will just have to wait and see how it goes. It's up to the manager whether I start or not, but I have heard a lot of good things about the fans at this club and I look forward to Saturday.
"Last weekend was very difficult and tough. We all know what it is like at Millwall and it wasn't our day but there are another 44 games left in the season. We have talked through the problems from that game and we have tried to improve in training this week.
"We will be concentrating to make sure we do our jobs right in the next game and we will be positive. There are so many games in the Championship that you always have to look forward to the next one. It's not good to look too much at the last match whether you lose or win.
"That has been our job this week - to do our best on the training field to try and win at home."
Koren says he is settling in well with his new team-mates and admits the KC Stadium was his first choice destination following recommendations from a number of his former West Brom team-mates.
"I heard a lot of positive things about Hull, the club and the fans. I also heard a lot about the coaching staff from my team-mates at West Brom." (Nigel Pearson and Craig Shakespeare both used to coach at West Brom)
"It's a good club, a big club and when they contacted me it was good for me. I'm really happy that the deal went through and that I am here.
"Everything is fine and having already been in England for three-and-a-half years, there isn't too much difference.
"All of the lads and coaching staff have been really kind and helped me with everything. I'm feeling really good and am concentrating on doing my job for the team."
