'Players Are Focussed On Watford' - Brown
Phil Brown says his players are not being distracted by talk of a possible trip to Wembley and are focussed on the job in hand against Watford tonight.
The Tigers lead Watford 2-0 following the first leg at Vicarage Road but Brown says his players are not letting anything affect concentration ahead of tonight's return clash at the KC Stadium.
"The players are relaxed, focussed and well up for the game tonight," said Brown.
"They are focussed on the job in hand and they're all hoping they get a shirt. If they get the nod they'll be ready, if not they'll be on the bench and ready, and if they don't make that they'll be in the stand supporting the team.
"The talk around the city about Wembley certainly doesn't play on my mind because I've been there a few times and that's not me being blasé about it.
"We were talking yesterday and Dean Windass has never been to Wembley. It would be great for me to take him there.
"You look at the milestones we've passed this season and there are still a couple to go.
"That's the challenge we've still got in front of us."
Brown believes Watford will arrive at the KC in a relaxed frame of mind and expects them to revert to the tactics they have used for the majority of the season.
"I fancy Watford to be relaxed. I fancy them to go back to the game plan they have had for 46 games with Darius Henderson up top.
"They will be mentally and physically up for it, aggressive and in our faces. But whenever anybody has done that, we've always responded by rolling our sleeves up a bit more.
"We've got some strong characters here and that is why we finished third in the table.
"I think one or two of our fans might be nervous, but hopefully we can alleviate that with a good performance.
"Everybody is looking at the third goal and if we get it, it could be game over. If Watford get it, it will be game on. If there isn't a third goal, then we're through."
In terms of the 90 minutes tonight, Brown says the opening to the game will be crucial.
"You have to start with the right mentality. In the league game at Vicarage Road, the first 20 minutes were important, but then they hit us on the break to score.
"But the first 20 minutes here in the league and at their place on Sunday worked the other way.
"If we get past the first 20 minutes tonight and it's 0-0, we'll be happy. But if we're 1-0 up, like I said, it could be game over.
"We have to have the mentality of winning the game."
