Brown Expects Stern Watford Test
Phil Brown expects Watford to throw everything at the Tigers when they travel to Vicarage Road on Sunday (KO 12noon).
The City boss expects the Hornets to try and force his side onto the back foot but is confident the Tigers can come away from the Play-Off semi-final first leg with something to hold on to.
"I fully expect Watford to come out with their sleeves rolled up and for them to throw everything at us," said Brown.
"But then they will come to the KC next Wednesday and get everything thrown at them. It's all about the mentality of the players when they cross the white line.
"The job is to make sure we've got something to hold on to when we come back to fortress KC next week.
"That is easier said than done and you have to forget about Watford's recent form because the slate has been wiped clean now.
"Because we're playing over two legs, I think you do approach it differently. Not in terms of tactics or things like that, but the mentality that after 90 minutes it is only half time.
"That doesn't mean we'll be on the back foot, we plan to approach the game in a positive manner.
"We've got to play the type of football we've played for the majority of the season on what I'm sure will be a fantastic surface.
"I don't believe the fact we beat them 3-0 recently will hold any advantage for us. It will be in their minds and they will have to combat against that.
"The start of the game at Vicarage Road back in October vividly sticks in my mind because for the first 20 minutes we had more possession and more chances. We should have taken something that day.
"It might take 70 or 80 minutes before either of these games settles down, but the start will be vitally important."
Brown is also looking forward to going head-to-head with Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd once again.
"Aidy has experienced something that I haven't and that is leading a team into the Premier League.
"There'll be no love lost during the two games, but on Wednesday evening I'm sure we'll sit down after the match and have a beer. He's a great coach and a great motivator.
"I think both games will provide a great spectacle and I'm sure the best team will come out on top."
