Brown Ready For Wednesday On Sunday
Phil Brown is looking forward to a Yorkshire derby at the KC Stadium when Sheffield Wednesday visit on Sunday (KO 1pm).
Brown wants his side to build on their 2-0 home win against Wolves on Boxing Day and to build on their position in the top half of the table.
"You always look forward to your derby matches, especially when they are at home," said Brown.
"Your home form is always important, but when you get your close rivals coming it's always nice to turn them over.
"We're looking to win the game and to cement our relationship with the top half of the table.
"But it's not going to be easy. When we played at Hillsborough earlier this season, we played well enough to take something from the game but we came away with a 1-0 defeat.
"I think Sunday will be a blood and thunder game. The fans will play a massive part in that and our supporters will have to get out of their seats and make a noise.
"It's a mouth-watering game to finish 2007 with and it would be nice to finish it on a high."
Brown does have three injury doubts ahead of the game with Ian Ashbee, Sam Ricketts and Andy Dawson all battling against the clock, although Brown will give them as long as possible to recover.
"We're sweating on Ian Ashbee, Sam Ricketts and Andy Dawson. Ian limped out of the game on Boxing Day, but the extra day we have before Sunday will play a major role in his recovery. So, fingers crossed, he will be able to play, although he is 50-50 at this moment in time.
"Andy Dawson is the same. He has got a scrape on the lens in his eye and that is causing him sight problems.
"The surprising one for most people is that Sam Ricketts hasn't trained since the Boxing Day game. He is feeling a tight hamstring.
"So there's three key players who could possibly be missing, although that is not black and white.
"There's one or two decisions to be made if they don't come to the party, but we'll look at them again as time goes on and see if we can get them through."
