Hughes Looking Forward To Valley Return
Bryan Hughes is relishing his first return to The Valley when the Tigers take on Charlton Athletic this weekend.
The midfielder left Charlton in a summer move to the KC Stadium and although his time with the Addicks ended with relegation from the Premier League, he says he still has plenty of happy memories from the three years he spent with the London club.
"I'm looking forward to going back there and it should be a good game," said Hughes.
"Charlton have a really good fan base and The Valley is a nice ground to go and play at.
"I had a good three years there, although unfortunately I finished with a bad memory because of the relegation last season.
"But I do have some good memories and I had some good times there."
With his experience of playing at The Valley, Hughes is well placed to assess how tough it will be for City tomorrow.
"It will be tough, but I think teams have been going there and getting something this year.
"But like I said, it will be tough. They like to play football and get crosses into the box. But if we can stand tall and defend as well as we know we can, we know we can take something."
Despite being a regular in the side so far this season, Hughes admits he's disappointed not to have opened his competitive scoring account for the club and says he aims to do that in the near future.
"It would be nice to get my first goal. I've had a few chances, I know that. But as long as I keep getting in there, one will drop for me sooner rather than later."
