Brown Preparing For Big Game
Phil Brown is preparing for what he calls one of the biggest games of the season this weekend.
Sheffield United visit the KC Stadium for a Yorkshire derby on Saturday and Brown is desperate to see his side record consecutive league victories for the first time this season having dispatched Barnsley 3-0 on Monday night.
"Our mindset is that this is one of the biggest games of the season and also one of the toughest," said Brown.
"Everybody seems to be playing against Sheffield United with that mindset and it has worked well so far.
"But they are a dangerous team and they have spent a lot of money. They have a striker who is in form in terms of scoring goals and we have to make sure we keep that end of the field quiet and then cause problems for them at the other end.
"But it's not all about James Beattie. Danny Webber scored for them on Tuesday night, Keith Gillespie has played at the highest level and can be a danger, Michael Tonge is another one.
"They have a good squad and I think it will be one of our toughest games this season."
Brown will be forced to make one change to the side that beat Barnsley with Dean Marney suspended after accumulating five yellow cards.
Apart from that, the City boss is likely to keep faith with the same players who impressed against the Tykes.
"It wasn't just the way we played against Barnsley, it was the effort, drive and determination we put in as well. The statistics backed that up.
"There will definitely be one change tomorrow because of Dean Marney's suspension. But that is all I'm looking at because I want to minimise the changes.
"As we stand, I think the reward for Monday night is to play as close a team as possible to that."
Brown could also welcome Jay-Jay Okocha and Caleb Folan back into his squad following injury but says they're not guaranteed a place.
"They're both very close. Jay-Jay trained with the first team on Thursday and Caleb trained with the physio.
"Fingers crossed, both can play some part on Saturday."
