We Must Keep Form Up

Posted on: Wed 15 Feb 2012

Andy Dawson felt the Tigers fully deserved the point they took from a 0-0 draw against Birmingham on Tuesday night and that, maybe, they could have had more.

A good performance at St Andrews, especially in the first half, saw City stretch their unbeaten run in the league to five games and Dawson says City must keep up their recent good form.

"I would definitely say we deserved a point," said Dawson.

"We played very well in the first half and were maybe just one pass short of creating some very good chances. But we kept the ball well and really worked Birmingham.

"They came back in the second half, which you would expect them to do because they are a very good team, but a point is good and there is a long way to go (in the season) yet. You're not going to totally dominate games for 90 minutes, and especially not in this league because there isn't that much between top and bottom.

"When Birmingham had their spells, we showed how organised we are and we didn't really feel like we were under pressure. That is credit to everybody involved.

"Every point is massive now because we're coming to the business end of the season. We can see how the table is changing from week to week and we're coming towards a big month in March.

"There are so many points to play for. We've won three and drawn two of our last five games which is good form, but we've got to continue with that."

Dawson also revealed after the game that he is close to signing a new deal with the Tigers which will take him into a tenth season with the club.
