Balanced View For Pearson

Posted on: Mon 23 Aug 2010

Nigel Pearson had a balanced view after watching the Tigers draw 0-0 with Watford on Saturday afternoon.

Happy with his side's defensive improvement after last weekend's heavy defeat at Millwall, Pearson will now look to find an attacking spark and he is confident that will come once the likes of Jay Simpson, Robert Koren and John Bostock gel together.

"I have to look at it in a balanced way and after last week's heavy defeat it was important to get a response in terms of being more solid as a team," said Pearson.

"Our home form is going to be important and we've got to be looking to win games, but I thought there were more positives than negatives today.

"I know there are areas of our game that need to be addressed, but I am optimistic that we can do that. Three games in, we have only scored two goals and I believe it has been a problem in the past, but looking at the players that have come in I know we have the potential to score more goals. There is definitely room for optimism."

Pearson made four changes to his starting line-up for the game, feeling it was important to freshen the side up.

"Collectively, we weren't good enough last week and I felt it was important to freshen the team up today.

"Playing against a side that plays direct football and has had a decent start, we needed to be solid and I made the changes based on what I'd seen during the week and what I felt was right for the side."
