Dawson Wants Quick Return

Posted on: Mon 10 May 2010

Andy Dawson was left with mixed emotions as the Tigers' time in the Premier League came to an end with a 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

Although delighted to see a number of the Club's young players gain further match experience, Dawson was disappointed a draw against one of the league's top sides didn't mean more in the long run.

"Normally we would be happy with this result, but unfortunately it has come a little bit too late," said Dawson.

"From a football point of view, we did well on Sunday and it was more fantastic experience for the young lads that played. It's a fantastic learning curve for them and I'm sure next season they will be better for it.

"But, it was also our final game in the Premier League and I would like to thank the fans for getting behind us and making it a special occasion."

As one of City's longest-serving players, this is the first backward step Dawson has faced in his time at the KC Stadium but he believes a positive response will be evident come August.

"We've known we've been going down for a couple of weeks now, so now it's time to refresh ourselves and get ready for next year.

"We've been in the Premier League for two years and we know how difficult next season is going to be in the Championship, but we want to get back to the Premier League as quick as we can."
