Will Atkinson hopes his performance on his Premier League debut will be the catalyst to regular involvement in the Tigers' first team next season.
Atkinson produced an impressive display in City's 2-2 draw at Wigan on Monday, scoring his side's first goal as he headed home Kevin Kilbane's cross.
The winger now hopes to get another chance to impress when City host Liverpool on Sunday before setting his sights on a more prominent role in 2010/11.
"It was fantastic to have the chance to play in the Premier League," said Atkinson.
"Unfortunately we're not going to be in this league next year, but hopefully I can push on from here and play a lot more games for Hull City next season.
"We've got Liverpool to come before that, though, and it would definitely be nice to play at the KC Stadium. We'll see what happens in training this week and hopefully I can get another game under my belt.
"It would be nice to get a positive result in that one. We came so close to winning at Wigan and it would be nice to get a win in front of our own fans against a great side like Liverpool."
His goal aside, Atkinson was pleased with his general performance against Wigan and enjoyed the occasion.
"I was delighted to be playing first of all, but I was also delighted to score," added the 21-year-old.
"The last minute put a bit of a downer on the day, but from a personal point of view I was happy with the goal and happy with the performance.
"I felt I had been pushing for a chance in the first team all season and especially since I came back off loan (at Rochdale).
"I was happy to be given the chance and Iain Dowie has been like a breath of fresh air since he came in."
