Stephen Hunt says he was excited by the way the Tigers played during their 3-3 draw with West Ham at the weekend.
City came storming back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 by half time, but following Bernard Mendy's red card early in the second half, West Ham scrambled an equaliser to claim a share of the spoils.
"There's a little bit of disappointment there, but there's a little bit of excitement about the way we played as well," said Hunt.
"We actually started well, that is the sickening thing. We started well and we found ourselves 2-0 down.
"But we showed great character after that and we continued to play the game in the right way by attacking them.
"The fans were tremendous and they were exceptional when we were behind. It's easy to sing and get behind the team when we're winning, but they have reacted in the right way when we've gone behind in the last couple of games."
The pattern of play in the second half was in stark contrast to the first as West Ham looked to make their numerical advantage count following Mendy's dismissal.
"The pressure was on them," added Hunt. "
"The ball fell for them in the box and they scored. That was disappointing because it was a bad goal to concede, but we showed courage and desire to hang on to the draw."
Attention now switches to Wednesday's home game against Everton and Hunt is expecting another difficult encounter.
"Everton will be coming here on the back of a difficult game against Manchester United, but they'll be looking to come here and win after the 4-0 victory they had against us in the Carling Cup.
"Maybe that will turn out to be a good result for us now because maybe Everton will take us lightly."
