Ricketts Praises Battling Qualities
Sam Ricketts described the Tigers' performance against QPR on Saturday as frustrating but praised his side's battling qualities as they came from behind to claim a draw.
Michael Turner's late goal earned City a 1-1 draw and Ricketts doesn't believe the result has done the Tigers' promotion hopes too much damage.
"It was a massively frustrating afternoon, not only for us but for the fans as well," said Ricketts.
"But I think the togetherness of the squad came through and nobody gave in. We carried on plugging away and scored another late goal.
"We've had a few of those this season to help us out and that was another one.
"I wouldn't say the draw has done us any major damage. It's still in our own hands and it's all about the team that can put a good run together in their remaining games.
"We've got four games left and if we win them we'll go up, it's as simple as that. Come the last game of the season, I believe there will still be four or five teams still looking at going up automatically. There's a long way to go yet."
Ricketts was disappointed with the 'goal' which saw City fall behind in the 14th minute and he is adamant the ball didn't cross the line from Dexter Blackstock's shot, despite assistant referee Graeme Atkins ruling otherwise.
"The ball wasn't over the line, that was my initial reaction. We've seen it a couple of times since then and Boaz (Myhill) said it wasn't over the line as well. I'll take his word for it.
"We don't concede many goals so to have one like that go against us is frustrating. It wasn't our best game, though, and that is why it was important that we didn't get beat."
The Tigers now go to Barnsley on Tuesday night knowing a win could take them to the top of the table and Ricketts says three points is what they will be aiming for.
"Maybe Saturday's draw does put a bit of extra pressure on us going to Barnsley, but our intention was always to go to Oakwell and win.
"If you want to go up, you have to go to places like Barnsley and win. We want to go there and win."
