Okocha Praises Tigers' Spirit
Jay-Jay Okocha admitted Saturday was 'one of those days' but praised the Tigers' spirit as they claimed a 1-1 draw against Colchester United at the KC Stadium.
For the second game running, Okocha provided the assist for Fraizer Campbell to net an equalising goal, although the Nigerian saw the result as an opportunity missed to close in on the play-off places.
"I have to say Colchester made it so difficult for us," said Okocha.
"It was one of those days for us when nothing went our way. But I have to congratulate the squad because we kept going and kept pushing to try and turn things around.
"It does feel a bit like an opportunity missed. We are so close to the top six and it's vital that we win our home games.
"You can't fault our effort against Colchester because we gave it our all, but it wasn't the best that we have played."
Saturday saw Okocha starting a game at the KC Stadium for the first time since September and he admits City fans are yet to see the best of him.
He has also called for the fans and players to get right behind each other as the Tigers look to break into the top six.
"Saturday was only my second game in two months and the fans haven't seen the best of me yet.
"On Saturday, you could see that I was struggling a little for that last bit of match fitness. But I think I did myself a lot of favours by playing the full 90 minutes and I can't remember the last time I did that.
"I can only get better and get back to my normal form. But I'm so glad to have got another game under my belt now and I know I can do better than I showed the fans on Saturday.
"I think if we're going to meet our expectations this season, the fans will have a big role to play.
"We need them as much as they need us. We probably need them more when things are not going well, like on Saturday.
"I can understand them being frustrated (on Saturday) because we are so close to the play-off positions and they are desperate to see their team in there.
"That is where we want to be as well. I just think we have to stick together and if we're playing well, we know they'll be right behind us."
Okocha is now focussing on the Tigers' away trips to West Brom and Bristol City and the Nigerian is determined to remain positive.
"We've got two massive away games coming up. We have to stay positive and take the positive things we did out of Saturday's game.
"I think we fancy our chances of keeping our momentum going."
