Dean Marney feels the Tigers have taken a little bit of pressure off themselves after recording back-to-back victories for the first time since March.

Saturday's 3-0 win against Preston backed up last Tuesday's 1-0 win at Burnley and lifted City into the top half of the table, something Marney was delighted about.

"It was a good result," said Marney.

"Scoring three goals is always nice, but more importantly we kept a clean sheet.

"We've got back-to-back wins and that lifts a bit of pressure now. Hopefully we can string a few more together.

"Not achieving that earlier was the disappointing thing. We'd go and get a good result and then not follow it up. We've done that now and hopefully we can push on.

"Consistency has been a problem, but I think we're getting there. It's important to start games well and we did that on Saturday.

"We got two early goals and it was game over really. We took our foot off the gas for the last ten minutes of the first half, which was a bit disappointing.

"But we came out and started well in the second half and got a goal and that was game over."

City now face a two-week international break and although Marney admits he'll be glad of a rest, he says there'll still be plenty of hard work put in on the training ground as preparations begin for the Humber derby against Scunthorpe.

"For me personally, it'll be an opportunity for a bit of a rest and I'm sure the rest of the lads will feel the same.

"But I'll still be working hard over the next two weeks to make sure I'm ready for the Scunthorpe game."
