Richard Garcia believes the Tigers have the winning mentality to ensure this season is a successful one.

Garcia played a major role in City's 1-0 win at Wolves on Tuesday night, winning the penalty from which Dean Windass netted the only goal of the game.

Now, Garcia believes the Tigers can kick on and go on a run of positive results.

"We've kept roughly the same squad for a few games now and it's just about getting to know how we all tick," Garcia told www.hullcityafc.net

"We need to work with each other and work on developing partnerships. Hopefully we can create those partnerships for the season.

"We'll be looking to win at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday now to keep the ball rolling for us and to keep that winning mentality, which I think is something we have already at this club.

"Winning breeds success and the more you win, the more you think you're going to win."

Garcia was left in no doubt that Neill Collins' challenge on him at Molineux was worthy of a penalty and had full confidence in Windass sticking the spot kick away.

"I don't think their defender needed to go to ground. I think he thought I was going to shoot and it was my intention to trick him into thinking that.

"When defender's slide in, they normally leave a leg trailing and I took that.

"I think everybody was a little bit on edge because Dean has missed his last two penalties, but he stuck it away.

"Dean doesn't let things like that get to him and he's put this one away well."

Although Wolves dominated the final 15 minutes of the game as they went in search of an equaliser, the Tigers had earlier been in control for large periods and Garcia felt the win could be put down to a real team effort.

"I thought we kept our shape really well. We worked as a unit and we worked well as a team.

"We kept the ball well and I thought we could have won by two or three in the end."

Garcia was also impressed with the contribution of Jay-Jay Okocha, who started a game for the first time in City colours.

Okocha was applauded off the field by both sets of fans when he was substituted six minutes from time and Garcia believes he will bring a lot to the team.

"Jay-Jay is Jay-Jay. He has had experience all around the world and he has played at such a high level, he will bring a bit of something to the team which is good."
