Phil Brown watched his side go about taking a point against Bolton Wanderers the hard way on Tuesday night but was pleased with the final outcome.

Stephen Hunt scored twice in the final 20 minutes as the Tigers came back from 2-0 down at the Reebok Stadium and Brown was delighted with the character his players showed.

"So long as you do it, that is the main thing," said Brown.

"We never do anything the easy way at Hull City. But as far as I'm concerned, the response of the players at 2-0 down was tremendous and worthy of all three points in the end.

"But at 2-0 down, do you deserve all three points? We were hoping that if we got one goal, we would get two.

"We made positive substitutions. We brought Nick Barmby on for Jozy Altidore, we brought Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink on and then Geovanni.

"On a cold night like that, everybody questions the Brazilian's commitment but he came on and ran the show for the last 15 minutes.

"We deservedly got the equaliser, but I'm disappointed we didn't pinch the three points in the end.

"We had a mountain to climb and we climbed it. That is testimony to the determination of the players to prove people wrong and to stay in the Premier League."

Brown was also delighted to see Hunt score his fourth and fifth goals of the season.

"He's already been knocking at the referee's door just in case the Dubious Goals Panel only credit him with one goal. For me, he deserved both goals."
