'This Is What The Premier League Is All About' - Brown
Phil Brown says games like this Saturday's trip to Arsenal are what the Premier League is all about.
The Tigers make their first ever visit to the Emirates Stadium to face an Arsenal side currently sitting at the top of the Barclays Premier League table.
"These are the games you come into the Premier League for," said Brown.
"Everybody in Hull will have been looking for the big fixtures when the list came out. You hear the chants of 'you've only come to see United' or 'you've only come to see the Arsenal' and I think there is a little bit of that about the Premier League. There are certain teams that you want to have a look at.
"But I saw what I wanted to see of Arsenal against Bolton last week. For 25 minutes, they played some of the most sublime football I have ever seen in my life.
"They scored two goals in that period and hit the post twice as well. It's one of those games when you hope you're going to catch them on an off day.
"But at the Emirates in front of 60,000 fans, that will be a rarity.
"We have to bring our best game to the table, it's as simple as that. If we do that and win, then that's fantastic. If we do that and lose, I'll still be happy.
"At the end of the day, it's all about 11 men. We've worked on a game plan where we can win the game. We've worked on a game plan where we can get something from the game and we've worked on a game plan where we're not going to have much possession.
"We have to be patient and we have to understand that if anybody gives up the ghost, they will be exposing the rest of their team-mates.
"I want us to be on the front foot. Bolton went on the front foot in the second half and the game changed. They had one or two opportunities to get a goal.
"They got a goal from a set-piece and I think that is a possibility (for us). We have got some height and stature in the team and there is a possibility of scoring a goal or two from set-pieces."
Brown also believes the Tigers will have to have a physical approach to the game to combat Arsenal's technical ability.
"I go back to that Kevin Davies tackle (on Gael Clichy last week). For me, there was nothing wrong with that tackle. If you take that out of the game, Hull City might as well not play at the Emirates on Saturday.
"If you allow Arsenal to dictate that that kind of tackle goes out of the game, then we're finished.
"We've got that tackle on our side. They've got that technical aspect on their side. If they're allowed to express that technical side without tackling or physical contact we might as well not turn up.
"If I'm a physical player, I've got to impose myself on you. If you're just going around kicking people, that is different and I would never advocate that from my teams.
"You have to play to your strengths. Our strengths are tackling, heading and interceptions. We were one of the top teams in the Championship for those last season.
"We showed last Sunday that the fourth string to our bow is that we can play. If you add all of those together, you have a half decent team.
"If you're telling me that William Gallas and Kolo Toure aren't going to be physical with our front players, then you're sadly mistaken. It's about imposing yourself on the opposition both individually and then collectively."
Brown says he won't necessarily stick with the side that has taken four points from the last two games and says he will field a team that can handle the occasion.
"I feel as though the majority of our players can handle the situation. I'm going to put the big guns out and play my experienced team and strongest team.
"I'm not necessarily going to keep the same team that has got four points from the last two games.
"It will be a team that I think should be able to handle it. If we play the way we played against Everton in the first half, we will cause them problems."
