Phil Brown expects Craig Fagan's comeback from injury to be two or three weeks later than originally anticipated.

Fagan suffered a displaced fracture of his right fibula as a result of a challenge by Newcastle United's Danny Guthrie ten days ago.

Having undergone an operation yesterday to assess potential further damage, the news was not as bad as first feared.

"Craig had an operation yesterday," Brown told www.hullcityafc.net

"We put a camera into his ankle because there was a suspected rupture of a ligament. But the upshot of the whole operation was that things are a lot better than what we thought.

"Obviously the downside is that he's still got a broken leg. The expected return date for Craig will probably be two to three weeks later than we first thought.

"We're probably looking at Craig being back on the training ground in four to six weeks time with a view to him playing some part in the second (group of) ten games of the season."

Fagan will begin his rehabilitation once he returns from a few days' holiday with a combination of swimming and cycling top of the agenda.

"Craig's rehabilitation begins almost immediately," added Brown.

"The pot that is being measured for him allows mobility in the rest of his body, so he can get on with cycling and swimming almost immediately.

"But the trauma of what has happened to him has taken its toll and he's actually gone away to relax for a week, so things will probably start for him on Monday."

Everybody at Hull City AFC wishes Craig all the best for a speedy recovery.
