Phil Brown has confirmed he has tabled bids for five players with only a few days remaining in the transfer window.

The City boss also revealed there has been interest in members of his own squad with the transfer window set to close on September 1st.

"We're working hard behind the scenes to get players in," said Brown.

"But you can only do your own bit. That's been highlighted by the Manchester United-Tottenham-Berbatov scenario. You can only do so much because you then need somebody to say yes at the other end.

"We have got bids on the table for a number of players and if those players become available at the other end, then hopefully they will become Hull City players.

"Until that happens, I'll continue to do as much as I possibly can.

"We've got two bids on the table for strikers, two for defenders and one for a midfield player.

"If one falls into place, then that automatically takes another two or three out.

"We're trying to improve and I think the players here know that. We're trying to improve their situation as opposed to anything else. We're trying to help the players who are already here.

"But they have to see that the players we're looking to bring in are an improvement rather than a step back.

"If we win on Saturday, they might ask me why we're bringing a player in, but like I say, it's to improve us.

"Currently, there is interest (from other clubs) in four of our players. One is a very serious bid and there are two other clubs interested in that same player.

"Something might well happen in terms of players going out, we don't know yet."
