Premier League strugglers Hull City and West Ham United drew 3-3 in a thrilling game at the KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

2-0 down after 11 minutes, City hit back to lead 3-2 at half time thanks to a deflected free-kick  by former Hammer Jimmy Bullard, a close range effort from Kamil Zayatte then a Bullard penalty.

However, the Tigers were reduced to ten men nine minutes after the break when right-back Bernard Mendy was sent-off.

The Hammers took advantage to claim a point.

Dean Marney came in for the injured Seyi Olofinjana as the Tigers made just one change to the side that beat Stoke City last time out.

Boaz Myhill returned from injury to take a place on the bench while Geovanni was also included amongst the substitutes.

Another ex-West ham player Richard Garcia retained his place on the Tigers' right wing.

The first shot at goal came inside 50 seconds when Jack Collison fired straight at Matt Duke from 20 yards.

City played some neat stuff early on, but West Ham were carrying some real attacking threat.

After cutting City open out wide, Andy Dawson did well to deflect a shot wide.

From the corner the Hammers took a fifth-minute lead when Guillermo Franco headed home from six yards.

City had the chance to hit back from a corner in the ninth minute.

Stephen Hunt's delivery was cleared as far as Jimmy Bullard who fired the ball back into the box.

After West Ham struggled to clear, it fell to Craig Fagan, but he couldn't adjust his feet quickly enough to get a shot on target.

Two minutes later it was 2-0.

A hopeful diagonal ball from Franco found the head of Collison who looped a header over Matt Duke from the edge of the area.

Although City were continuing to pass the ball around, the tempo was too slow to trouble the Hammers.

However, a route back into the game came on 27 minutes when Jozy Altidore was fouled on the edge of the box.

Bullard's free kick took a huge deflection off Scott Parker and then Cole to send the ball looping over Robert Green and into the top corner of the net.

West Ham went back on the attack almost immediately and Parker felt he should have had a penalty when he went down under a challenge from Anthony Gardner.

Referee Mark Clattenburg disagreed.

Junior Stanislas was shown the first yellow card of the game on 44 minutes for pulling Bernard Mendy's shirt.

From the free kick, the Tigers grabbed the equaliser.

Hunt's wonderful inswinging free-kick was met on the volley by Kamil Zayatte who gave England keeper Robert Green no chance with a powerful finish.

Amazingly, City were then awarded a penalty as the first half entered added time.

Fagan was pushed in the back by Julien Faubert as they comepted for a high ball just inside the box.

After some debate as to who would take it, Bullard stepped forward to blast the spot kick into the top corner of the net.

Half Time: Tigers 3-2 West Ham

There was danger for City almost straight after the break as Cole won a free kick out of a challenge with Zayatte, but the visitors wasted the set piece.

The same two players clashed again moments later.

This time, the free kick should have gone in favour of the City man but the referee waved play on and with Zayatte on the ground injured, Franco curled a shot just wide of the post.

City were reduced to ten men on 54 minutes when Parker burst through on goal and was chopped down by Mendy 20 yards out.

The right-back was shown a straight red after he was seen to be the last defender.

From the free kick, Stanislas curled a shot wide.

The red card resulted in Richard Garcia briefly dropping in at right-back and Fagan moving to the right wing, leaving Altidore as the lone striker.

Jozy Altidore

Garcia was soon replaced by Paul McShane.

West Ham should have been reduced to ten men on 67 minutes when Franco, already booked, tripped Altidore but the referee gave no more than a free kick and a final warning.

Two minutes later, West Ham were level.

City failed to deal with a corner and the ball fell at the feet of Manuel Da Costa who fired home.

City made their second change on 73 minutes as Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink replaced the impressive Altidore.

West Ham almost went in front on 82 minutes.

Anthony Gardner was caught in possession by substitute Luis Jimenez, but he fired into the side netting.

City had a strong penalty appeal turned down two minutes later when Vennegoor of Hesselink appeared to be dragged to the ground by Matthew Upson.

Phil Brown made his final change five minutes from time as Geovanni came on for Hunt.

West Ham had another chance moments later when Stanislas met a right wing cross, but he headed down into the ground and the ball bounced up and over the bar.

In added time. Duke produced a fine save low down to his right to keep out Collison's header.
