Hull City were on the end of another thrashing when they were beaten 6-1 by Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
A spirited first half display had offered hope as Geovanni cancelled out Fernando Torres' early opener, but the Liverpool striker went on to complete a hat-trick as the Tigers faded after the break.
18 year-old Liam Cooper made his Barclays Premier League debut as Phil Brown made changes to his side.
George Boateng came back in to captain the side while Kevin Kilbane also started.
Liverpool were just about at full strength with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt all starting.
Boaz Myhill had to come off his line quickly in the opening stages as the home side looked to make a quick start.
Gerrard slid the ball through for Torres, but Myhill beet the striker to claim possession.
Liverpool went ahead in the 12th minute.
A low cross from the left found Torres and he turned Ibrahima Sonko before finishing low into the far corner of the net.
But the Tigers were level just three minutes later with their first shot on goal.
Paul McShane's cross from the right was met by Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and, although his header back across goal was half-cleared by Martin Skrtel, the ball fell for Geovanni who volleyed home with his left foot from 12 yards.

Emiliano Insua saw a shot deflected just wide before a City counter attack from the resulting corner brought a free kick on the right touchline, level with the Liverpool box, but Stephen Hunt's ball in was claimed by Pepe Reina.
At the other end, Lucas shot tamely at Myhill from Insua's pass.
Liverpool went back in front on 28 minutes.
Yossi Benayoun fed Torres, who was played onside by Ibrahima Sonko, and after calmly rounding Myhill, the striker slotted home with ease.
City responded with a Geovanni free kick which found Paul McShane, but his goal-bound effort was deflected wide.
Kilbane picked up a yellow card in added time for a foul on Torres.
Half Time: Tigers 1-2 Liverpool
Torres completed his hat-trick two minutes into the second half.
Again he beat the offside trap before cutting inside Sonko and placing a shot through the legs of McShane and into the corner of the net.
Hunt was booked for hauling down Glen Johnson three minutes later, although Liverpool failed to make anything of the free kick.

Skrtel was booked for a flailing arm that connected with Vennegoor of Hesselink's face, giving City a free kick on the edge of the Liverpool box but Geovann's shot went well over the bar.
It was 4-1 on 61 minutes as Gerrard's cross from the Liverpool left luckily dropped into the City net.
McShane was then booked for the latest in a series of offences and he was lucky not to be sent off as he protested his innocence.
City made a double change with 26 minutes to go as Daniel Cousin and Dean Marney replaced Vennegoor of Hesselink and Kilbane.
Meanwhile Liverpool replaced Torres with Ryan Babel and the hat-trick man left to a standing ovation from both sets of fans.
A fifth goal came for Liverpool with two minutes to go.
Kuyt was set free down the right and his low cross found Babel, who turned the ball home.
It got worse in added time when Albert Riera's drive took a wicked deflection off Babel to loop over Myhill and into the net for 6-1.
