Hull City are up and running for the new season after a 1-0 victory against Bolton Wanderers at the KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Kamel Ghilas marked his first start for the Club with his first goal as the Tigers recorded their first home league win since last December.

Phil Brown made four changes following the midweek defeat to Spurs.

Kamil Zayatte, Kevin Kilbane, Geovanni and Ghilas all came into the side at the expense of Steven Mouyokolo, George Boateng, Bernard Mendy and Daniel Cousin.

Mouyokolo and Boateng were included on the bench as were Craig Fagan and Jozy Altidore.

City were captained by Michael Turner while former Tiger Sam Ricketts started for Bolton.

Zayatte started the game at right back while Kilbane and Geovanni were included in the midfield.

Caleb Folan was the lone striker with Ghilas and Stephen Hunt supporting from the wings.

Bolton missed a great opportunity inside the first two minutes.

City's offside trap failed, allowing Johan Elmander to race through on goal, but he dragged his shot just wide of the far post when he should have done better.

Other than that, it was a flat start from both sides although Ghilas did at least bring a save out of Jussi Jaaskelainen with a 12th-minute shot on the turn while Stephen Hunt fired over from 20 yards.

The first yellow card of the game came on 19 minutes after Sean Davis went straight through Ghilas.

Hunt then picked up his second booking in consecutive home games for a foul on Matt Taylor.

Geovanni's run and shot brought City their first corner on 33 minutes after Jaaskelainen pushed the effort wide, but the set-piece delivery from the Brazilian was poor.

Anthony Gardner's indecision on the ball almost cost his side dear as he was robbed by Fabrice Muamba but when the ball was eventually worked to Kevin Davies, he blasted wide.

Boaz Myhill had to be at his best in the 36th minute to stop Taylor's deflected free kick and the City keeper then reacted well to deny Elmander a chance from the rebound.

Kevin Davies missed another chance as the half entered added time, firing wide at the back post after being left unmarked at a free kick.

Half Time: Tigers 0-0 Bolton

Bolton had the first chance of the second half when Kevin Davies headed a free kick inches wide.

Elmander was then booked for a foul on Michael Turner before Myhill saved from Taylor's snap shot.

City made their first change on the hour as Altidore came on to make his debut in place of Folan.

Seconds later, the Tigers took the lead when Altidore's header over the top of the Bolton defence dropped for Ghilas and he smashed the ball into the net.

City went close to a second on 63 minutes when Hunt's in-swinging free kick was met by Zayatte, but he headed wide.

Altidore had the chance to get his first goal in City colours after being played through by Geovanni, but he lifted his shot over Jaaskelainen and wide of the far post.

Ghilas was the next to have a chance and he saw his effort come back off the crossbar before Altidore took too long over the rebound as the Bolton defence recovered.

Jaaskelainen then denied City a second, saving from Altidore before Ghilas poked the rebound over the bar.

City's second change came with nine minutes to go as Boateng replaced Geovanni.

Bolton then began to exert some pressure of their own with a series of corners which City survived before Fagan replaced goal hero Ghilas.

Four minutes of time were added, to the disappointment of the home crowd.

Myhill had to get down low to stop a Ricketts shot and the keeper then reacted brilliantly to make sure there was no tap in from the rebound.

Davies then fired wide before the final whistle was blown.
