Ten years after being bottom of the Football League, for 24 hours at least, Hull City are joint leaders of the Barclays Premier League following a 3-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
Second half goals from Kamil Zayatte, Geovanni and Marlon King earned the Tigers their fourth straight win and means they are level on points with Liverpool and Chelsea, who play on Sunday, at the top of the table.
Phil Brown once again kept faith with the same side that had won the last three games with Daniel Cousin and King playing up front.
City right-back Paul McShane lined-up against one of his former clubs.
It took the Tigers less than three minutes to register their first strike on goal.
Geovanni picked the ball up in space before shooting from 20 yards, but Scott Carson dealt with it comfortably enough.
Albion then won a free kick 20 yards out when Andy Dawson brought down Ishmael Miller.
The challenge left the City left back needing treatment and he was forced to the leave the field for the taking of the set-piece, which was taken by Miller and deflected by the wall into the hands of Boaz Myhill.
When Dawson did return to the action he was clearly struggling and it almost cost City dear as Albion looked to take advantage.

Myhill did well to parry a shot from distance, but it bounced for James Morrision, whose header came back off the bar.
After a scramble, the ball was eventually poked just wide.
Brown took immediate action and replaced Dawson with Sam Ricketts, who slotted in at left back.
West Brom were certainly the better of the two sides early on and only a superbly timed tackle from Zayatte prevented Miller from having a clear sight of Myhill's goal.
A counter attack from City led to a reasonable opening for King on 18 minutes, but after picking up Dean Marney's cross, he dragged a weak shot across the face of goal.
Good hold up play from King set up a chance for Geovanni inside the West Brom box moments later, but the Brazilian slipped as he struck his shot and the ball rolled harmlessly through to Carson.
City were coming more into the game and they won a corner in the 25th minute when Dean Marney's shot was deflected wide.
The set-piece came through a crowd of bodies to Ian Ashbee, but he could only fire wide from a good position.
Miller found himself in trouble with the referee two minutes later after following through in a challenge on Zayatte.
The striker was booked for the foul.
Zayatte then missed a great chance. He connected with Marney's corner having been left unmarked, but the header flashed wide of Carson's goal.
Myhill produced a good save from Miller after he had been played through by Borja Valero, the City keeper standing tall as the striker bore down on goal before deflecting his shot wide.
Ricketts was booked for high feet following a challenge on Miller as the game edged towards half time.
Albion went close on added time when a corner to the near post was met by Roman Bednar, but his flick landed just over the bar.
Half Time: Tigers 0-0 West Brom
City took the lead two minutes after the break. Marney's corner was met acrobatically by Zayatte and his powerful finish gave Carson no chance.

The corner had come following Carson's athletic save from Geovanni's deflected shot.
City's loud army of travelling fans were left singing 'we are top of the league', although Ashbee's booking seconds later silenced them slightly.
It was his fifth yellow card of the season and means the captain will miss next Saturday's trip to Manchester United as he serves a one-match ban.

West Brom went in search of an equaliser and went close when Ryan Donk's header from a corner was knocked off the line and behind by Ricketts, although replays later showed that the ball had struck the post rather than the City full back.
From the resulting corner, City broke away and after picking up Cousin's pass, King cut back inside his man before seeing a curling shot palmed wide by Carson.
Myhill produced a fantastic one-handed save in the 58th minute, palming away Morrison's 25-yard shot which was destined for the corner of the net.
It proved a vital save as the Tigers doubled their lead on 62 minutes. King beat the offside trap to latch onto a through ball.
He then cleverly flicked the ball over for Geovanni, whose diving header beat Carson and finished up in the bottom corner of the net.
Any thoughts of a comfortable win were far from the thoughts of the players though as Myhill was forced into another brilliant save seconds after the restart.
Arguably, it was game over in the 66th minute as City made it 3-0.
King found himself through on goal and produced a cool finish that gave Carson no chance.
City fans were loving it and a chorus of 'are you watching Lawrenson?' will have sent out a little message to the pundit who seems to tip the Tigers to lose every week.
Although the Tigers were looking comfortable, Albion went close to pulling a goal back when Morrison's drive whistled just past the post.
Perhaps with his impending suspension in mind, Ashbee was replaced by Bryan Hughes in the 75th minute before Richard Garcia replaced Geovanni three minutes later.
Turner could have added a fourth six minutes from time when he met a Marney free kick at the far post, but his header from ground level was saved by Carson.
The Tigers closed out the game, including two minutes of added time, comfortably to record another memorable Premier League away day.
