On the fifth anniversary of the opening of the KC Stadium, record signing Caleb Folan's first goal for the club helped the Tigers to a 2-0 win against Leicester City on dull and cold Saturday afternoon.

Folan struck on 17 minutes before substitute Fraizer Campbell sealed the win 13 minutes from time, converting after Dean Windass' penalty had come back off the post.

Michael Turner was passed fit to start following his hamstring problems while Campbell was included on the bench. There was no place in the squad for Jay-Jay Okocha.

Andy Dawson came in for the suspended Damien Delaney while Richard Garcia replaced Okocha in midfield.

Fireworks greeted the players as they emerged from the tunnel, although it was Alan Sheehan's nasty challenge on Sam Ricketts inside two minutes which ensured a warm opening to the game. Both players were left needing treatment before Sheehan was shown a yellow card.

Windass had the first effort of the game, showing some ambition as he fired wide from 30 yards.

Garcia then had a decent chance when he connected with Bryan Hughes' deep cross, but the Australian could only head wide.

City took the lead in the 17th minute. Windass lofted a ball over the top for Folan, who out-muscled a defender before firing into the bottom corner of the net.

It was just about a fair reflection of how the game had gone, with City looking the more comfortable in possession.

However, Boaz Myhill had to react well to tip Sheehan's shot wide after he had been set up by Ian Hume's pass as Leicester looked for a reply.

Folan won City a corner on 25 minutes after chasing what seemed like a lost cause, but Dawson wasted the set-piece after working it short with Windass.

Hughes should have doubled the lead moments later when he connected with Garcia's superb low ball across goal, but the former Charlton man tamely side-footed his shot into the hands of Marton Fulop from ten yards.

Half Time: Tigers 1-0 Leicester.

Leicester made a double change during the break, introducing strikers Carl Cort (brother of Ex-Tiger Leon) and Collins John in place of Hossein Karbi and Sheehan.

The two new boys were playing up front with Hume dropping back into midfield.

It was a quiet start to the second period with City seemingly content to try and play the ball around while John dragged a weak shot well wide of the post from inside the area.

City won a corner on 58 minutes when Dawson's attempted cross was deflected behind. Hughes delivered, but the cross was far too long.

Windass was booked in the 63rd minute after a silly challenge on Stephen Clemence as the game struggled to adopt any sort of pattern.

The Tigers had a decent opportunity on 70 minutes when Dawson burst forward, but his teasing low cross failed to find a City foot.

City's first change soon followed as Campbell replaced the hard-working Folan and it was the on loan Manchester United man who doubled the lead with 13 minutes remaining.

The goal came after the Tigers were awarded a penalty when Windass was tripped in the box. The same player took the spot kick and when it came back off the post, Campbell was first to react to fire past Fulop from close range.

That missed penalty proved to be Windass' last contribution as he was replaced by David Livermore.

Leicester almost pulled a goal back on 85 minutes when Myhill failed to claim a corner, but City somehow managed to scramble the ball wide before Cort headed Joe Mattock's cross over from a good position a few moments later.

To be fair, City rarely looked like conceding as they recorded their first win for three weeks.
