Juniors Sign Off With A Win
Hull City Juniors concluded their season with a 1-0 victory over Boston United at York Street on Saturday thanks to a Darragh Satelle strike just before half time.
Following the goalless draw with York City less than 48 hours earlier Billy Russell made four changes to his starting line up. Aaron Raymond, Danny Wilkinson, John Leonard and Connor Townsend were the four to miss out. Danny East, Satelle and Nathan Hanley returned to the side and Tom Bennett made his first start at Junior level.
Slack marking almost gifted the hosts an early lead when Chris Baker and Mitch Griffiths were left unmarked from Jon Fairweather's free kick but the Boston duo seemed to get in each other's way and could only help the ball over Ben Hallam's crossbar.
The Tigers first chance came when they were awarded a free kick but Hanley drove his left foot effort wide of the mark.
Hallam then had to save from Griffiths before Richard Overment headed over from Satelle's cross.
Overment had another chance when he took advantage of an error in the Boston defence but he was unable to beat Aaron Butcher in the home goal.
Hallam then held Baker's free kick and a Griffiths header from Kieron Davies' corner as the hosts searched for the breakthrough.
The only goal of the game came two minutes before the interval when Hanley's ball down the left found Satelle near the corner flag. The Irishman cut inside and from the corner of the box drove in a right foot shot that should have been a routine save for Butcher. However, the keeper somehow managed to let the ball go straight through his legs and into the net.

The Tigers made a couple of changes during the interval with Wilkinson and Ray Ford replacing Joe Fox and Overment.
Hanley and Dean Deagle combined well down the left to create a chance for Satelle but his near post flick was held by Butcher, who then also saved from Ford when he met East's cross.
A defensive error then gave Boston a great chance to level but Hallam turned Griffiths' shot round the post and just a couple of minutes later the Pilgrims striker was again denied by the City stopper.
East, Richard Gibson and Danny Emerton were all involved in a good move which culminated in Ford striking a fine shot across goal and narrowly wide of the far post.
The Tigers suffered a setback when Sonny Bradley had to be withdrawn due to injury and, with all three substitutes having already been used, they were forced to play the last 16 minutes with just ten men. Deagle moved to centre back with Hanley dropping to left back as the Tigers remained solid at the back. When Hallam was called into action he tipped a Griffiths free kick over the bar.
Gavan Holohan was outstanding in the City midfield and he almost capped his performance with a goal following a good run into the box but his shot was blocked by the Boston defence.
In stoppage time Ford latched onto a Gibson flick but his effort was blocked by Butcher and Satelle's solitary strike was enough to see the Tigers Juniors end their season on a winning note.
