Youngsters from the Tigers' Centre of Excellence have been representing the Club in two prestigious youth tournaments this summer.
First up was the Foyle Cup which is held in Northern Ireland each year and attracts youth teams from all over the world.
Competing in the U16 competition but with a young squad in comparison to the rest, City produced two fine performances to win their group, defeating Donegal Schools 2-0 in their first game and Lisburn Distillery 3-0 in the second. A 2-0 quarter-final win against North Dublin SL set up a semi-final clash with Queens Park Rangers, which unfortunately ended in a 2-1 defeat. The Tigers did bounce back, however, and took third place in the tournament when beating St Kevins Boys 4-2 in a 3rd/4th place play-off.
Meanwhile, the Club's U15 side were invited to play in the Premier League International Tournament held in Warwick earlier this month.
It was another successful tournament for the Tigers as they beat Wigan Athletic (3-2), Aston Villa (2-0), Tottenham Hotspur (1-0) and Borussia Dortmund (1-0) to top their group. City also beat Blackpool 4-2 in a friendly.
The final saw City up against West Ham United and after an evenly contested first half, the Hammers eventually ran out 5-0 winners.
The result in the final shouldn't detract from a magnificent effort from City's youngsters who have once again shown that the future is bright.
A day later it was the U13s' turn to take to the field and although they couldn't match the success of the U15s when coming up against Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao, they still did the Club proud and can look forward to a good season ahead.
