The Tigers' Youth Team were victorious in the 2012 Browns LdV Tournament in Portugal on Thursday night, beating Celtic's U20s side on penalties in the final.
After an entertaining goalless draw against The Hoops, the match went to penalties and the young Tigers kept their cool from 12 yards to become the first-ever winners of the Browns LdV Tournament.
Head of Youth Billy Russell took his youth team players to Portugal for the pre-season trip as a follow-up to a fortnight of hard work at their base at the club's Centre of Excellence.
The trip offered City's youngsters the opportunity to undergo intense training sessions at the top-class facilities of Brown’s Sports and Leisure Club near Vilamoura while also allowing them to gain some valuable game time against Celtic and Nigerian side Nath Boys (Nigeria), who were defeated in the semi-final.
Everyone at the club would like thank Brown’s Sports and Leisure Club for their fantastic hospitality during the trip, which was made possible by a successful grant application through the European Commission's Liflelong Learning Programme.
