Koren put an end to that speculation late last Friday when he signed a new two-year deal with the club and after a long summer, the midfielder is looking forward to focussing on football again when the new league season gets underway on Saturday.
“In my head, there was never a doubt about staying here and I never looked at moving away,” said Koren.
“I know it took a little bit of time to sort out but we’re all happy that things are done now and I’m looking forward to continuing to play for Hull City and in front of the club’s supporters.
“This club has the quality to reach the Premier League and everybody will be giving 100 per cent this season to try and make that happen. The new signings have settled in well and we have a good group here. We help each other on the pitch and off it.
“I am looking forward to the new season. I’ve enjoyed my last two years here and love playing in front of these fans. I feel as though there is a good relationship between the team and the fans.
“Hopefully the fans will continue to give us that extra energy, both home and away, because they are very important to us.
“We’ll be looking to make a good start and then build from there. We’re all excited about the new season and if we weren’t, we shouldn’t be playing. We ended up disappointed last season, so now it’s time to go one step further.”
