Sone Aluko couldn’t hide his smile after experiencing what he described as one of the most enjoyable 45 minutes’ of football he has ever played in at the weekend.

Aluko was part of the City side that ran riot against Millwall at the KC Stadium on Saturday with four goals in the opening 40 minutes.

The former Rangers striker was on the scoresheet himself, his second in as many games, as the Tigers made it three wins from three at home.

“The first 45 minutes was very enjoyable – we kept the ball, created chances and scored goals,” said Aluko.

“It was one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played in. Everything clicked for us, the movement was good and we kept possession well. It was good to see things that we work on in training come off for us.

“We’ve got a lot of good footballers here and there’s no fear about moving the ball quickly because we know we’re capable of holding it.

“We continued to create chances in the second half but couldn’t quite take them. We were disappointed to concede a goal as well, but we would have all taken 4-1 before the game.”

City’s next challenge comes with Tuesday night’s trip to face Leeds United and Aluko is looking forward to the game at Elland Road.

“It will be a good game and we know we’ll be coming up against a good team,” added Aluko.

“It’s a derby and everybody enjoys playing in those. It should be a good atmosphere as well and we’re all looking forward to it.”
