Sone Aluko is keen to hit the goal trail when the Tigers travel to Charlton Athletic this weekend.

The former Rangers front-man has impressed in his first two competitive appearances for City and is confident the goals will flow once he gets off the mark.

“When I was at Rangers, I kind of got used to everything I hit going in,” said Aluko.

“I think it’s just a case of finding the first one here and then once I get that, I’ll be looking to go on a scoring run.

“I’m settling in well here. The team spirit is good and I already knew a lot of the staff so that has helped. I enjoyed my debut last weekend and the game on Wednesday night, apart from the result. Everybody has been really warm towards me so far and I’m happy with that.”

Having missed part of pre-season and the Capital One Cup win against Rotherham, Aluko admits he is still finding his match sharpness but doesn’t feel too far away from firing on all cylinders.

“Wednesday was my second 90 minutes since I arrived here, so I’m not 100 per cent yet, but enough to play games.

“I didn’t have such a long summer break because of internationals, so I’m feeling good and I still felt sharp at the end of Wednesday night. It’s coming and I’m happy with that.”

Looking at the visit to Charlton, Aluko is expecting a frantic start from the hosts as they continue to carry the momentum of promotion from League One last season.

“They’ve been promoted and they’ll be flying high,” added Aluko.

“They’ll be carrying that winning mentality and I’m sure they’ll come out at us. But with the squad we’ve got, we’ll be going down there looking for a win.

“We saw that Charlton beat Leicester on Tuesday night and that is this league, anyone can take points anywhere. We’ll be going there prepared to face a good team with a good manager.”
